Where do I bring my tech to trade-in?
Book a reservation to bring your personal device(s) to OWLtech located on Main Campus in the Pearson Hall Lobby. Our staff will assist you in evaluating your old tech and its trade-in eligibility.
How long does an evaluation take?
The process is quick and only requires a few questions about your device to give you an appropriate quote. If you accept the quote for trade-in, you will be given store credit equivalent to the value of your quote, in exchange for your old device.
How do I get paid?
You can use the store credit immediately towards the purchase of a new device or you can receive an OWLtech Giftcard for the trade-in value to use on a future purchase(s).
What if my device doesn't have a trade-in value?
If your device doesn't have a trade-in value, you can consider submitting it for recycling through the technology recycling program available through Temple's Computer Recycling Center.
What devices can I bring in for trade-in?
We accept a wide variety of devices for trade-in. We currently accept used laptops, desktops, tablets and phones from major manufacturers such as Apple, Dell, Lenovo and more.
If you have a question about whether your old tech is eligible for trade-in, please feel free to contact OWLtech at 215-204-6958 or email us at owltech@temple.edu. Please note that only personally-owned devices are eligible for trade-in. Corporate or Temple-owned devices will not be accepted.
What should I do before bringing my device in for trade?
It is your responsibility to back up and remove personal data/files before bringing in any device for trade. Back up your files to Temple University's cloud storage offering of OneDrive. The Help Desk can assist if you have questions about using these resources available to you.
Once your device is accepted for trade, OWLtech and Temple University are not responsible for any information or data remaining on the device. Information and data is not recoverable once the device is traded in.
Should I bring my power adapter and cables in as well?
Yes! Typically including a working charger, power adapter and cables can add value to your trade-in.
